Fitting Lake County HS Track Team - RLHS

February has been a whirlwind here at 847 Running Company.

Excited is an understatement. We are humbled by the long hours and refueled daily from the level of support in our community. If you came by in early February, we highly recommend making another trip out. Our shop is changing daily with new inventory, vintage finds and homey decor that makes you want to stay a while. But that is a different post for a different day.

This blog post goes out to the Round Lake High School Track Team. Our staff was ecstatic to fill our new home with over 80 students (!!) and fit each one with care. What does that even look like? Well it is 5 team members taking a group of 4 students at a time, asking about their history, watching them walk, run and try on a curated selection of footwear to meet their needs within two hours. Not to mention we split the group into two smaller, more manageable groups. Yes, it is as wild and exciting as it sounds! We have worked with this amazing school for the past 4 years, and it was an honor to have them at 847 Running Company for the first time. Thank you Coach B and Coach M for trusting us with your athletes!

There is something so special about seeing high school athletes covering every seat and surface in a place you have made to feel like home. There is something magical about witnessing your team member laughing with a group of teen girls about run problems, ogling at shoe colors and telling them it is POSSIBLE to run for a college if you can start at College of Lake County (CLC). There was so much encouragement and hope and joy circulating our store; I hope it never leaves.

I would like to give a BIG thanks to our brand reps from Mizuno and New Balance for coming to help outfit these track and field athletes. New Balance brought local doughnuts from LEE Famous Donuts and both brought in brand schwag too.

It takes a village. Our’s is a very good one.
